George M. Dirga, age 87, of Stratford, passed away on November 15, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital. George, A Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army was born in Bridgeport on April 27, 1930 to the late Andrew and Anna (Kravec) Dirga and has been a life long area resident. He was a retired Policeman and Detective for the City of Bridgeport, and upon retiring worked in the Security Department for Tetley Tea. George was a former member of Mill River Country Club and the Police Benevolent Association. Survivors include his devoted brothers, Andrew Dirga of New York and Peter Dirga of Milford, bother-in-law, Ronald Patrick, 5 nieces, Laura Kmetz (Joseph), Christine Mattutini (Thomas), Denise Carroll (Raymond), Michelle Murphy (Richard), and Leigh Dirga, a grandniece and several grandnephews. In addition to his parents, George was pre-deceased by his sister, Irene Patrick and sisters-in-law, Sharon Dirga and Patricia Dirga. Friends may greet George's family on Tuesday, November 21 ^st from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Inurnment with full military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
