Genevieve Mary Sibiski, age 94, of Oxford passed away on Thursday, January 18,2007 in the Griffin Hospital, Derby. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Sibiski. Born in Derby on June 25,1912 to the late Ralph and Elizabeth DeMarco, she had been a Stratford resident for 54 years. Mrs. Sibiski worked for the American Red Cross Blood Program before graduating at the age of 59 with a BS in reading and a sixth year teaching certificate from Southern Connecticut State University. She worked as a reading specialist at Flood Middle School in Stratford until her retirement. Mrs. Sibiski was an active member of St Mark Parish in Stratford. She was a religious education teacher, member and past president of the Ladies Guild and coordinator of the annual Christmas Pageant for the religious ed. Students. She was also coordinator of children's events for the Stratford Arts Commission and a member of the former Shakespeare Guild. Mrs. Sibiski most recently published two religious stories for children. She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, love of arts and travel and a devotion to her faith and beloved family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Elizabeth A. Johnson and her husband William, of Oxford, with whom she resided, and her son, Joseph A. Sibiski Jr. and his wife Marguerite, of Norman, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her sisters; Barbara McCormack and her husband Bill of Trumbull, Theresa Cassidy and her husband Ray of Ashfield MA, and brothers; Richard DeMarco and his wife Teppy of Bridgeport and Ralph DeMarco and his wife Judy of Nokomis, Fla.; 5 grandchildren; Marybeth Petrella and her husband Ken of Stratford, Ellen Kritemeyer and her husband Paul of Oxford, James McQuillan and his wife Michelle of Southbury, Hannah Sibiski of Houston Texas and Sally Sibiski-Cook of Norman Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Kenny, Katie, Harrison, Mitchell, Dalton, Catherine, Sophie and Sarah and several nieces nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings; Lucille DeGrand, Louis DeMarco, Michael DeMarco, Anthony DeMarco and Antoinette DeMarco. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 24, 2006 at 9:00 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am in St. Mark's Church 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flower the family request those desiring may make donations to the "Genevieve M. Sibiski Scholarship Fund" through the funeral home
