Obituary

Gary Wilson Normandin, age 59, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne (Bohn) Normandin for 37 years. Gary was born in Derby, Connecticut, on May 6,1965, to the late Raymond and Lorraine Normandin. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Robert Bohn.

Gary is survived by his wife, Suzanne; their devoted children, Matthew and his wife Maggie of Shelton, Zachary and his wife Rachael of Shelton, and Connor and his wife Becky of Stratford. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Maeve, Quinn, Cameron, and baby Faye, who he adored and called him "Papa Gary." Gary is also survived by his mother-in-law, Anita Bohn; his sisters, Lynn Gilland and her husband Patrick of Middlebury, Donna Marino and her husband Joseph of Waterbury; his brother, Glenn Normandin and his partner Cindy of Bristol; as well as his brothers-in-law, Robert Bohn and his wife Jill of Trumbull, and David Bohn and his wife Alison of Naugatuck. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Gary lived a life full of family, faith, and love. His greatest passion was his family, and he was a true family man, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. As a father, he dedicated countless hours to attending and coaching his children's sporting events, from baseball and basketball to football and lacrosse. Later in life, Gary enjoyed quieter moments, such as dining out with his family, enjoying backyard gatherings, and dancing the night away to "September" with those he loved.

Gary was immensely proud of his children, often expressing his admiration for the bond they shared. He also took great joy in watching his children become loving parents themselves, especially to his cherished grandchildren. He often said, "Look at them, they really love each other. What a gift that is." His love for his family was immeasurable.

A true superhero in the eyes of his family, Gary's superpower was Love. His unwavering affection for his wife, partner, and best friend, Sue, was something truly special. Together, they had a special acronym, SHMILY—"See How Much I Love You"—which they expressed through notes, gestures, and shared moments, always reminding each other of their deep and lasting love. Despite life's challenges, they often reflected and said to each other, "How lucky are we?…  how blessed."

The Normandin family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the incredible community of family and friends who supported them over the past six years. From fundraising efforts to prayers, walks, texts, dances, photos and heartfelt visits, your kindness has been a source of comfort. A special thank you to the staff at Dr. Hirschfeld's office, as well as all of the doctors and nurses who supported Gary and his family throughout this journey.

Gary lived a beautiful life…. Every day for him was a gift.
