Gary Joseph Adzima, age 90, of Fairfield, passed away on Oct. 20, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Carole Breen Adzima, and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose greatest joy was his family.
Gary, a peace time veteran of the US Army, was born in Bridgeport on Jan. 13, 1936, to the late Alexander and Helen Wasco Adzima. He was a graduate of Warren Harding High School and received a BS degree in Business from the University of Bridgeport. When his children were younger, Gary was an Indian Guide Leader, a volunteer for Little League baseball as well as a leader for Indian Princesses. He was also active in the Civitan Club of Fairfield for many years. Gary’s great love was his family. He loved to watch a Mets game, watch DIY shows, read a good book on his Kindle, go out to dinner and travel, especially to Italy and Anguilla with his family. He enjoyed woodworking and helping his grown children build and fix things. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. He took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to whom he was an example of hard work and satisfying play. This is the legacy he leaves.
Gary was a lifetime employee of Pitney Bowes and retired after almost 40 years as Manager of Inventory Accounting. He has retained many friends from Pitney Bowes with whom he remained in close touch with.
In addition to Carole, his loving wife of 65 years, he will be greatly missed by his devoted children, Greg and his wife Ellen of High Point, NC and Andrea and her husband Rob of Stratford, CT. He leaves his grandchildren Alexander (Butler) of Charleston, SC, Austin (Olivia) of Summerfield, NC, and Jackson Buchanan of Stratford, CT as well as two adored great-grandsons, Everett and Owen, plus another on the way. Gary is also survived by his sister-in-law Eleanor Adzima and his brother-in-law Don Semanchik as well as five loving nieces and nephews and their families. Gary was pre-deceased by his brother, Richard and his sister, Alix Semanchik.
Gary’s family would like to thank his devoted caregiver, Carolene Davis, for her devotion and her kind and loving care.
Friends and family may visit on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Requiem Funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford.
