Obituary

Francis J. Lebinski, age 87, of Stratford, beloved husband of Elizabeth Slovensky Lebinski, passed away on July 2, 2017 in his home. Fran was born in Bridgeport on February 10, 1930 to the late Joseph and Josephine (Maliszewski) Lebinski and has been a life long area resident. He was a graduate of Roger Ludlow High School, Fairfield, and was a retired foreman for Raymark. Fran was a U. S Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal. U.N. Service Medal, Purple Heart and the National Defense Service Medal.   He played softball for the Raybestos Cardinals playing for six years, earning 2 National Championships; he was a member of the ASA Major Fastpitch Softball League, playing on various teams for over twenty years. Fran was inducted into the Connecticut ASA Hall of Fame in 1991. He enjoyed coaching his son's baseball teams, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Fran was an avid gardener, and enjoyed the time spent with his family at their summer home in Lake St. Catherine, Vermont. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of sixty-two years, include his devoted sons, John Lebinski and his wife Brenda of Sandy Hook, and Paul Lebinski and his wife Karen Evans of Beacon Falls, 3 cherished grandchildren, Victoria, John and Sofia all of Sandy Hook, his brother, Joseph Lebinski of Fairfield, 1 niece and 1 nephew. In addition to his parents, Fran was pre-deceased by his son Francis Lebinski Jr, and his special cousin, Vincent Lipinski.   Funeral services are private and have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home-Stratford.
