Evelyn B. Poynter, age 88, of Bridgeport, the beloved widow of Dexter Poynter, passed away to meet her Lord, God, in her home on Thursday, May 10, 2018. She was born in Yonkers, New York on December 26, 1929 to the late Euterpe and Ann (Strinka) Fordell and has been a lifelong Bridgeport resident. In addition to her husband Dexter she was predeceased by a daughter Karen Lee Banick, brothers, Vinny and Ed, sisters, Louise Zoryk and Catherine "Kitty" Dennis. Evelyn is survived by a son, Daniel Poynter of Cape Canaveral, Florida. She spent her last days under the loving care of her hospice caregivers surrounded by her Connecticut family William Sr., Alan, Cathy, Colleen, Miranda, her Church on the Rock family and longtime neighbors. She is also survived by six grandchildren, William Jr., Daniel, Kate, Tina, Amy and Melissa, four great-grandchildren, Liam, Caelan, Emily and Raina. Friends may greet her family on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 4-7 P.M.  A prayer service will take place at 6:20 p.m. with Pastor Todd Foster and Pastor Leslie Foster from the Church on the Rock officiating. Interment will be private.
