Emil Edward Zaletta, age 90 of Shelton died on Thursday, May 1, 2008 in the Hewitt Health Care Center in Shelton. Born in Bridgeport on July 22 1917 to the late Andrew and Susan Soltis Zaletta, he has been a life long area resident. He was a veteran of the US Navy just prior to WWII aboard the USS Enterprise and was a member of the Ancient order of the Deep Domain of Neptune Rex. He was a retired Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service. Emil was a member of the America-St. Johns No. 8 A.F. & A.M., the Deerfield Beach Lodge 325 A.F.& A.M. and the Mahi Shrine. He was predeceased by his wife Helen Hobart Zaletta, a brother Andrew Zaletta and a sister Ann Gabor. Survivors include his wife Mary Fialkovich Zaletta, a son Edward Zaletta and his wife Nancy of Fruitland Park, FL, a daughter Elizabeth Gonzales and her husband Frank of Gilroy, CA, a step-daughter JoAnn Griffin and her husband Walter of Shelton; a step-son William Krafchik of Alexandria, VA; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers John Zaletta of Trumbull, Cyril Zaletta of Mesa, AZ and Francis Zaletta of Barnet, VT and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 10:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 11:00 am in St. John the Baptist Russian-Orthodox Church Mill Hill Ave Bridgeport with a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment with Full Military Honors will take place in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 pm. Panahida will be at 4:30 pm. A Masonic service will take place at 6:30 pm. Donations may be made to St. John's Church.
