Obituary

Elizabeth Demko, 96, of Shelton, Connecticut, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at the Ashlar of Newtown Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Dickson City, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Stephen and Anna (Spisak) Chopko. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Trumbull and the church's Ladies Guild. Mrs. Demko worked for a time at the Remington Arms and Singer Sewing Machine Companies in Bridgeport. She was known for her love of people, her Church and her sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband George, in 1965; a brother, John and sisters: Anna Nemeth and Mary Filarsky. She is survived by her sons: George and his wife Gloria of Madison, Connecticut and Fr. James of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Beaver Meadows, Pennsylvania: a daughter Mary Ann Lefferman and her husband Frank of Shelton Connecticut with whom Elizabeth resided: a brother Michael Chopko of Swift Water, Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Mrs. Scott (Laura) Shail, Michael and Christopher; great-grandchildren: Zachary, Alexis and Madison and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 9:00 am in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, Connecticut and a Divine Liturgy and Office of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, 100 St. John's Drive, Trumbull, Connecticut. Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. There will be a Parasta Service at 7:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Friends and relatives may call Friday 5-8 pm.
