IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eleanor M.
Fisch
June 13, 1939 – May 31, 2025
Eleanor Margaret Fisch went home to be with her Lord whom she loved with all her heart. She attributed her desire for knowledge, truth and art to God's many blessings upon her.
She was born to Louise Geiger and Henry Charles Prahl, Sr. in Bronx, NY, one of five siblings. Rudolf Prahl and his wife, Adele, Frederick Prahl and his wife, Marilyn, Henry Charles Prahl, Jr. and his wife, Lillian, Joan MacMillan and her husband, Arthur.
Eleanor graduated from Our Lady of Miraculous Medal School and Grover Cleveland High School, both in Ridgewood, NY. Eleanor also graduated from Browns Business School in Queens. She worked as a secretary for Brown Brothers, Harriman & Co. for five years; where she met and married her first husband and had five children, Joseph Gallo married to Christine Pryor, Susan Gallo married to Brent Reynolds, Dr. Eleanor Gallo-Hendrikx married to Dale Hendrikx, Robert Gallo, Jr. married to Lisa Bush Gallo and Donald Gallo married to Kolab Bun-Gallo.
Eleanor's second marriage was to her beloved, Barry Fisch and they had over 25 wonderful years together. Almost every day, Barry would leave her a love note or a single flower on the kitchen table. Barry gave her two stepsons, Mathew Fisch and his wife Patricia, also Michael Fisch and his wife Danielle. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Eleanor graduated from Union College, Cranford, NJ with a Liberal Arts Degree and then went on to Kean University where she received a B.A. in Communications. The degrees were earned as she raised her five children. She volunteered in many activities for her children. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a Den Mother, a Class Mother, a High School Band Parent, and a Band Chaperon.
Later, she was a graphic designer at Wahlstrom Group for 17 years. She was active in art groups, most notably the Fairfield County Arts Association in Fairfield, CT where she was President, and the Fine Arts League of Cary, Cary, NC. Beanie the Clown, a cartoon character, was created by Eleanor originally to melt away the miles between her and her granddaughters, who lived so far away in TX. After the granddaughters grew up, Eleanor expanded Beanie into an annual Christmas card to family and friends. Eleanor was a true flower bringing smiles to many faces.
Eleanor's legacy is to instill in others to persevere when times get rough, to trust in yourself, to accept what comes your way and make the best of it. Find a hobby and be productive.
