Eileen M. Lewandowski, age 77 of Stratford, the beloved wife of Robert Lewandowski, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Thomas and Helen (Glabas) Markham, she most recently resided in Hager Hill, Kentucky for 25 years, prior to relocating to Stratford, Connecticut two years ago to be closer to family. Eileen was passionate about teaching and reading and was a lifelong learner. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois, her master's degree from Northern Illinois University, and completed work on her doctorate in Speech Communications at the University of Kentucky. She retired as a full professor from the Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Prestonsburg, KY. Eileen loved to sing in her church choir and was an avid UK basketball fan. Survivors in addition to her beloved husband of 54 years, include her daughters, Judith Ann Jamison and her husband Scott of Spokane, WA, Mary C. Waghorne and her husband Bob of Fairfield and Carol D. Cournoyer and husband Marc of Norwich, her grandchildren, Taylor and Lauren Jamison, Max, Charlie and Will Waghorne, Tessa and Molly Cournoyer, her brothers, Thomas Markham and his wife Sophie Radlowski of Chicago, IL and Gerald Markham and his wife Kay of Bloomingdale, IL, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Timothy Markham. Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 27, 2017, at 9:30 AM in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 10:00 AM in St Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Monday from 8:30 – 9:30 AM.
