Obituary

Edward Walter Rutkowski born August 4, 1913 in Sharon Connecticut resided in the Bridgeport and Stratford area most of his life. He served in the U.S Navy in war and peace for 9 years as First Class Petty Officer, Asiatic Pacific Fleet, China Service and the Philippine Liberation. Ed was a former chef with Meal Time Management. He belonged to the U.S. Asiatic Fleet 4 – Stack Destroyer Association, The Tin-Can Sailors Association and Raymond T Goldbach VFW Post 9460. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Wanda, in 1990, brothers Raymond Rutkowski, Sigmund Rutkowski and sister Edna Bunovsky. He is survived by his son Robert, his daughter-in-law Rosalie and granddaughter Stefanie Rutkowski of Wilmington, Delaware and step-grandchildren Larry and John Sullivan of Manhattan and Kasia Horner of Atlanta, three sisters Connie Jarzynski, Irene Misencik and Barbara Brinsko of Bridgeport and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Regina Okleyewicz of Wallingford. In lieu of flowers the family requests and donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans at: DAV Memorial Program P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Grace Church Stratford on Tuesday February 20, 2007 at 10 am. Burial will be private.
