Obituary

Edward J. Perkowski formerly of Stratford, CT went to the Lord on June 21, 2013 in Burlington, VT. He was the beloved husband (62 years) of, Sophie Perkowski. Ed was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 7, 1921 and moved to Poland with his parents and brother when he was a year old. He grew up in Poland and when World War II broke out was captured by the Russians and sent to Siberia. When the camp in Siberia was liberated by the English in 1942, he joined the Allied Army and served in the Middle East and Western Europe. After the war, he relocated to Bridgeport, and met his wife, the former Sophie Badowski. They were married on May 30, 1951. He worked at Sikorsky Aircraft and the City of Bridgeport Police Maintenance Dept. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. Upon retiring, he and Sophie spent winters in Delray Beach, FL. Besides his beloved wife, Sophie, he leaves his loving children, son Edward C. Perkowski of Stratford, daughters: Irene Lindquist and her husband Ken, of Easton, and MaryAnn Meshako and her husband Tom, of Jericho, VT. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Kathryn Vespe and her husband Paul, David Lindquist and his wife MaryKate, Lauren, Jaclyn, and Allison Meshako, and great-granddaughter Annabelle Lindquist. He leaves his sisters-in-law Anna Perkowski and Bernadette Perkowski, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Julian and Stefania Perkowski, brothers Waclaw, Eugene and Ted Perkowski, and sister Halina Jarzynski. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at St Michael the Archangel Church 310 Pulaski Street Bridgeport on Saturday June 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St Michael's Cemetery. Family and friends may greet the family on Friday June 28, 2013 from 5-7p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, CT. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Ed's name to St Mark's School Scholarship Fund, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, CT 06614.
