Edward G. Matosian, age 88 of Stratford, CT beloved husband of Rose V. Matosian for 66 years died on December 24th. Born in Weehawken, NJ in 1929, he was a long time resident of the Stratford and Bridgeport area. He was the son of Haig and Archalous Matosian. Predeceased by sister Elma (Ellie) Matosian. He retired after 23 years from the Perkin-Elmer company as a computer systems manager. He was also employed at Manning, Maxwell & Moore, The Singer Co. and The Burndy Co. He was a University of Connecticut graduate. In addition to his wife he is survived and loved by four sons Richard and wife Lauren of Derby; Gary and wife Christine of Lakewood, CA.; Edward and wife Tracey of Stratford, David and wife Charice of Milford, three daughters Sundara (Linda) and husband Greg of Coquille, OR; Donna of West Haven; Laura of Stratford; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was active with several Stratford Town Committees as Planning Commissioner, a three time subcommittee chairman to develop the Five Year Master plan for the Park and Recreation departments; former member of the General Building Needs Committee; member of Greenway Committee. Other activities included president of the Parish Council of the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension; chairman of the Garden School Cub Pack 172; president of the Connecticut Chapter of the Association for Systems Management; member of the Stratford YMCA Board of Managers and Junior Achievement advisor. He served as District Commissioner for the Scouting program in Stratford and was the recipient of the District Award of Merit. He served as the organizer and games director for several years for the annual Cub Scout Cub-O-Ree. He enjoyed tennis, platform tennis and woodworking. He was an amateur toastmaster for many employee events at Perkin-Elmer and earned the title of the Armenian Don Rickles. Funeral service will take place on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. meeting directly at the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension 1460 Huntington Turnpike Trumbull. Interment will be in Union Cemetery Stratford. DO TO STORM CALLING HOURS HAVE BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FRIDAY 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
