Obituary

Edward William Lovanio, age 100, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Anne Mordovanec Lovanio, passed away on March 17, 2018 in Lord Chamberlain Health Center, Stratford. "Bill" was born in Bridgeport on December 31, 1917 to the late Edward and Rose (Pilgoste) Lovanio and has been a life long area resident. He was a retired foreman for Leverty & Hurley Construction Company, and prior to that had worked for CR&L Bus Company, where he was noted for his perfect driving record. Bill was a life long athlete and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in his youth. He was a member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport, and their Senior Group. Survivors include his devoted brother, Joseph Lovanio and his wife Kathleen of Orange, several grand children, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Bill was pre-deceased by his stepchildren, Elliott and Earl Saunders, and Ethel Saunders-Petitte, his brother, Gabriel Lovanio and his wife Erminia, sisters, Edith Lee and her husband Leonard, and Rita Ignitus and her husband Louis, and his longtime friend and companion, Josephine Kreta. The Lovanio family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Lord Chamberlain Health Center, for their kind and loving care. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 27 th at 11 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Prior calling hours have been omitted.
