Obituary

Edward S. Bike Sr. age 102 of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Anderson Bike, passed away on Tuesday April 19, 2011 in Lord Chamberlain Health Center, Stratford. Mr. Bike, a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army was born in Wallingford, to the late Jacob and Mary Bike and had been a life long area resident. He was the former owner of Bike's Grill in Bridgeport and was an avid sports fan and athlete, playing baseball for: the Mac All Stars, the Springwoods, the Sylvans, and the Underwoods (Hartford). Ed was also the 1st place Champion of the Bridgeport Horseshoe League, and 2nd place runner up two times. He was a member of the Bridgeport Old Timers Athletic Association, and American Legion Sylvan Crest Post# 177. In 2010, Ed was the recipient of the Bridgeport Old Timers, Special Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifelong participation in sports and outstanding service to his community and country. Survivors include his devoted son Edward S. Bike Jr. and his wife Debra of Stratford, son-in-law Nelson Viola, 6 cherished grandchildren Melanie Bike, Nelson Viola, Sharnel Pilko, Edward Bike III, Megan and Katherine Bike, a brother Alexander Bike and his wife Mary of Bridgeport and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife and parents he was pre-deceased by a daughter Sharon Viola and a granddaughter Jennifer Bike, brothers John and Joseph and sisters Alice and Stacia. Funeral services are private and have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
