Edmund J. Ramos, age 95, of Milford, CT, beloved husband of Andrea Ramos, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 22, 1929 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Joseph and Emelia (Freitas) Ramos, he was 1 of 13 children.
He graduated from Milford High School, the University of Bridgeport, and received his J.D. from Catholic University School of Law in Washington, DC. Throughout his career as an attorney and real estate broker he was known for his hard work, dedication and passion for helping others.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran where he served as a Senior Inspector in the Base Inspectors Office and was the overseer of all training activities at Sampson Air Force Base, which housed thirty thousand trainees. He also served as the drill sergeant of the U.S. Air Force Drill Team stationed at Sampson Air Force Base.
In addition to his professional career, he was ordained as a deacon on June 6, 1987, and served at Christ the Redeemer Church and St. Ann Church in Milford. He was also an accomplished guitar player and enjoyed playing and singing traditional Cape Verdean music with his brothers in the band Irmaos. But, more than anything, he was a devoted family man. Always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement.
In addition to his wife, Andrea, of 53 years, he leaves to cherish his memory his children, Donna Ramos-Casiano and her husband Jason, and Matthew Ramos and his wife Michele. His grandchildren, Jazmyn and Edyn Casiano, Aaliyah and Mariana Ramos, and Selena Nieves and her husband Will. He was predeceased by all of his brothers and sisters, with the exception of Joseph Ramos. The family would also like to acknowledge and give special thanks to Sandra Dupre and Jeremy Sforza as well as his loving caregivers, Yovanny Jorge of Kalmia Homecare, Masonic Hospice, and the VA of West Haven, CT.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 2pm-5pm at Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11:00am at Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Road, Milford, CT. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Project
