Edith Erickson Farrington, age 95 wife of the late Jay B. Farrington, passed away on Tuesday January 15, 2008 in the Jewish Home for the Elderly. Edith was born in Lake Mahopac, NY and resided in Stratford for over sixty years. Edith loved to write poetry and won several awards from the World of Poetry in California. She enjoyed bowling, watching the METS, camping and traveling in their RV. During the Korean War, Edith started the GI Sunshine Club. Many GI's responded to articles in the Stars and Stripes writing to Edith asking for goody boxes all made possible by donations, kindness of local merchants and many volunteers. She retired from the Southern Connecticut Gas Company. She is survived by a son Francis (Swede) Erickson and his wife Mary Lou a daughter Margaret (Peg) Lepesko and her husband Ted all of Stratford, her loving grandchildren Barbara Brown and her husband Don of Shelton, David Lepesko and his wife Marcy of Milford, James Lepesko and his wife Susan of Stratford, Glen Allen and his wife Michelle of Waterford, Gwen Cook and her husband John of Shelton, also great grandchildren Julie Davidson of Virginia, Gabrielle and Brendon Lepesko of Milford, Patrick and Kelsey Lepesko of Stratford, Paul Allen of West Haven, and Joseph Allen of Trumbull. Funeral services will take place on Thursday January 17th at 10 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford with Rev. Fred Jackson officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery Stratford.
