Obituary

Dorothy S. Rehm, 91, passed away Saturday May 10, 2014 at Wolcott Manor in Wolcott, CT. Born April 21, 1923 in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Martha Sattler. She was the widow of Fred H. Rehm to whom she was married for 47 years. After her marriage to Fred, she moved to Stratford and was a lifelong resident. She was known to her family and friends as Dottie. She was never at a loss for words and never failed to entertain those around her with her sense of humor and wit. Dottie was a devoted wife and mother; her greatest joy was raising her five children and spending time with family. She was active in the Garden School PTA as well as being a den mother for Cub Scout Pack #172. She became one of the original members of St. Mark's church; while serving on many committees the church became a focal point of her life. In addition, she was active for many years in the Stratford Garden club. One of her greatest memories included the many summers spent with her family at Point O' Woods Beach in Old Lyme where the entire extended family gathered for weekend picnics. She is survived by her four children, Douglas Rehm, William (Linda) Rehm, Nancy (Paul) Lucarelle, and John (Lisa) Rehm, and sister Evelyn (Ralph) Finnance. Also, Ora Rehm and Georgina Brewer. In addition to her husband, she is pre-deceased by a son Fred Jr., brothers Ed, Ray and Jack Sattler, sisters Florence O'Connor and Viola Habersang. Additionally she leaves behind her 13 grandchildren: Jeff, Jason, Josh, Michael, John, Lauren, Amy, Jimmy, Susan, Alyssa, Kyle, Justin, Tyler, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 24th at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford at 10:00 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association 2075 Silas Dean Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. The Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
