Dorothy M. Manko, age 93, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Austin T. Manko, passed away on August 24, 2018 in her home. Dorothy was born in Bridgeport on June 17, 1925 to the late Joseph and Mary (Karaffa) LaBash and has been a life long area resident. She was a graduate of Stratford High School class of 1943, where she was class treasurer, and very proud of her perfect attendance. Dorothy hosted numerous luncheons at her home with her classmates, Helen Tiano, Rose Kerchar, Ann Ramik and Arlene Acecack. She loved attending tag sales and enjoyed finding a bargain. Dorothy also enjoyed sharing stories of how she flew upside down in an open cockpit Biplane during her high school years, while on adventures with her girlfriends. She also loved to travel overseas, before jet aircraft. Dorothy maintained a quick wit and never had a bad word to say about or to anyone. Her strong faith was extremely important to her. The Manko family would like to give a special thanks to Rosemary Koripsky Owens for her support and kindness, and also to her aide, Shoshawn for her kind and loving care. Survivors include her devoted sons, Gregory Manko, and David Manko both of Stratford, and Daniel Manko of Florida, her cherished granddaughter, Justina Manko and her fiancé David Guarino, her brother, Richard LaBash and his wife Jane, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was pre-deceased by her brother, Joseph LaBash. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 29 ^th at 11 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Interment will be in Union Cemetery Stratford.
