Obituary

Dorothy Knecht Scott, age 91, passed away on October 27, 2008 at Geer Nursing Home, Canaan, Ct., where she resided for the last 15 months. Previous to that she and her husband, Phillip S. Scott, resided at The Gables, Farmington, Ct. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Southington, Ct. Dorothy previously had been a longtime member of Summerfield UMC, Bridgeport, CT, where she had been a Sunday School teacher, choir member and member of the United Methodist Women.She was born in Binghamton, N.Y. to the late Julia and Charles Gunderman. Her first husband, Robert W. Knecht, predeceased her in Stratford, Ct. after 48 years of marriage.Survivors, in addition to husband Phil are children Shirley Meisel (Karl), Topeka, KS, Arthur Knecht (deceased wife Marilyn), Stratford, CT, Sandra Lane(husband Olen), W. Stockbridge, MA and Charlene Hayes(husband Scott), Tampa, FL, grandchildren Julie Meisel, Golden, CO, Karl H Meisel III, Des Moines, IA, Mark Meisel, Leawood, KS.,Paula Robbins, Paul Knecht, Northford, CT., Douglas Knecht, Jupiter, FL, Penny DeLand, Housatonic, MA, Tammy Caplinger, Salinas, CA, Hal Caplinger, Jr. , Victorville, CA, Angela Christiansen, Canaan, CT, Frank Nicita, Stratford, CT, Danielle Sukoian, Oxford, CT, Joseph and Christopher Tedesco, Derby, CT, sister Joyce Gentile(Ben), Prospect, CT, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, several cousins, nephews and nieces. She was also predeceased by a brother, Herbert Gunderman, Binghamton, NY. In addition she has 7 step-children of Phillip Scott and their families. Cremation will take place with a private inurnment at St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 31st,from 4-7 p.m. in Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Pl, Stratford, CT.A service of celebration and remembrance will be held on Saturday, November 1stat Greenwoods Community Church, 355 Clayton Rd. Ashley Falls, MA. at 2 PM .The family requests no flowers and invites donations to a charity of their choice or The Summerfield United Methodist Church Memorial Fund 110 Clermont Avenue Bridgeport, Connecticut
