Dorothy Wojna Evan, age 85, of Trumbull, formerly of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Stephen G. Evan, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017 in her home after a brief illness. Dorothy, a retired accountant for Friedberg, Smith & Co. was born in Bridgeport to the late Albin and Walerja (Jablonowski) Wojna and was a life long area resident. She was a graduate of Harding High School and also attended the University of Bridgeport. She was a member of the Polish Falcons of America, Nest 107 for over 60 years. Dorothy enjoyed reading mysteries and doing crossword puzzles, but what she loved most was spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, of whom she was very proud. Most of all she will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, who cared for her beloved daughter from the time she was one as a single parent. Survivors include her devoted daughter, MaryAnne Jass and her husband Mark of Trumbull, her cherished granddaughter, Stella, two brothers, Raymond Wojna and his wife Helen of Bridgeport, and Edward Wojna and his wife Elsie of Monroe, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Dorothy was pre-deceased by her siblings, Bennie and Chester Wojna, Anna Voytek, Alberta Zukowski, and Regina Griffin. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
