Obituary

Dorothy M. Bayusik Mihai, age 92, of Hamden, beloved widow of George Mihai, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 in Hamden Health Care. Dorothy was employed as a Switchboard Operator for Attorneys Marsh, Day and Calhoun. She was also a City of Bridgeport 911 dispatcher. She was born in Bridgeport to the late John and Suzanna (Churma) Bayusik.

Dorothy lived in Bridgeport until she and George moved to Portage, Pennsylvania in 1976 where they opened and operated the Portage Pastry Shop for 10 years. It was here in Portage where her sister Sue lived and her brother Father Robert Bayusik was pastor of the Greek Catholic Church. Dorothy was an avid church goer and devout Catholic who would always assist with church functions.

They moved to Saco, Maine in 1986 to be close to her daughter, Roberta and family. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, taking walks and playing games with them. Her dog, Buddy, a Boston Terrier also brought her much joy. They lived in Saco for the next 25 years where she was an administrative assistant in the Biddeford Welfare Dept.

Dorothy and George finally located to Hamden, CT. in 2009 to be near their children and grandchildren once again. It was here that Dorothy and George enjoyed seeing various wildlife; deer, coyote, foxes and wild turkeys walking through their back yard.

The family would to thank Connecticut Hospice and the staff of Hamden Health Care, especially Debbie C., Mei Yeung, Nancy and Moira for their care and friendship to Dorothy.

Survivors include her devoted children; George M. Mihai of Hamden, John and Chrissy Mihai of Florida, Roberta and Tim Mack of Hamden, 4 cherished grandchildren; Justin and sister, Michelle Mihai of Florida, Jessica Mack and Ian Dudley of Hamden, Daniel and Jessica Mack of Las Vegas, great-grandsons; Ryker and Hunter, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by 7 brothers, John, Joseph, Steven, Paul, Michael, Frank and Rev. Robert E. Bayusik, and 3 sisters, Anne Bednar, Sister M. Vernard and Susan V. Bayusik. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11:30am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 12noon in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church Trumbull with the celebration of a Divine Liturgy.
