Doris Ellen Tariska, age 82 of Trumbull, CT, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023.

Born on February 15, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Helen Dobey Tariska.

Doris is survived by her brother-in-law, Michael Hudzik; niece Deborah Correa (Cesar); nephew David Hudzik (Rebecca); five great-nieces and nephews: Sarah Correa, John Correa, Sophie Hudzik, Aiden Hudzik, and Charlotte Hudzik; as well as numerous cousins. Doris attended Central Connecticut State University (New Britain State Teachers College) and graduated in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She went on to receive her Master's in Education from the University of Bridgeport, as well as various other certificates in areas of study. She taught in the Bridgeport Public School System for several years, followed by a year or two on the faculty at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon returning to Connecticut, she took a position at Second Hill Lane in Stratford, where she taught for over thirty years.

While still working full time, Doris moved her father and disabled mother into her home, where she cared for them for over twenty years. Her compassionate and generous nature reached far beyond the boundaries of her family, and was extended to her neighbors, coworkers, church members, and students in equal measure. Doris had an avid love of reading, particularly Christian fiction, and often hosted book clubs in her home. For many years, she also facilitated women's bible studies and prayer groups in her home, and through those was able to display her second favorite hobby, which was baking. Doris was a wonderful baker, making all manner of cookies, pies, and dessert bars for whatever function she planned to attend, whether it be birthday parties, family picnics, or church events. She most definitely had a sweet tooth, and an even sweeter spirit, and those who knew her were truly blessed by her kind and giving heart.

A Memorial Service celebrating Doris' life will be celebrated on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. in Calvary Church 498 White Plains Road Trumbull, CT. Burial will be private.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home- Stratford.
