Doris R. Ciaffone, age 96, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Michael J. Ciaffone, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025.

Doris was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts to the late Adelard and Eva (Page) Jalbert and had been a longtime area resident. She graduated from Stratford High School, class of 1947 and retired from Barker's Department Store in Westport.

Doris lived a long and meaningful life, surrounded by her immediate and extended family and friends.  She was a wonderful wife and mother, and a devoted grandmother to her cherished grandchildren, Michael and Karen. Doris loved family gatherings around her pool during summer months, and hosting holiday meals for generations of cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. When she played piano, everyone felt welcome to sing along. A party at Doris's home was always fun! Doris was also a faithful member of Our Lady of Grace Church for more than 50 years.  For decades, she made Sundays very special for her own dear mother, Eva Jalbert (who lived to be 93), including her in their traditional Sunday dinners after church services.  And no tribute to Doris could be complete without mentioning her love and kindness to animals, especially the dogs and cats she welcomed into her family.  Like family past and future, those beloved pets will surely greet her at Heaven's door.

Survivors include her devoted daughter, Sandra Shulick and her husband George, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. In addition to her beloved husband of forty-four years and parents, Doris was pre-deceased by her grandchildren,  Michael and Karen and siblings, Anita Hawley, Evelyn Houssaye, Edward Jalbert, Dorothy Tabak and Claire Venables.

Visitation will be on Tuesday March 4, 2025, from 9-10:30 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 am at Our Lady of Grace Church 497 Second Hill Lane Stratford. Inurnment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
