Donald E. LaReau, age 81, of Stratford, beloved husband of Bonnie Starrett LaReau, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026. Don was born in Bridgeport on September 4, 1944, to the late Wilfred and Mary (Morris) LaReau and had been a lifelong area resident. 

He was a graduate of Bullard Havens Technical High School and retired from the Carpenters Union Local # 326. Don was a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was a proud member of the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment “Jumping Mustangs” and attended reunions for 30 years. He was a member of VFW Post #7788- Milford where he was Commander for several years. 

Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, include his devoted children, David LaReau of Stratford, and Marcia Bellerose and her husband Mark of Manchester, NH, cherished granddaughter, Jessica Bellerose of Maine, brothers, Richard LaReau of Bridgeport, and William LaReau and his wife Linda of Shelton and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was pre-deceased by his brother, Gerald and sister, Monica. 

Visitation on Thursday, March 19th from 10: 30a.m -12:00 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford; with a prayer service at 12 noon. Interment with full military honors will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford.
