Donald Robert Kardos, 74, a lifelong resident of Stratford passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2017 after a long battle with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. Don was the beloved husband of Margaret (Muncie) Kardos and worked as a finance manager for Sikorski Aircraft retiring almost 20 years ago. Don attended the University of Bridgeport and served in the Army Reserves. He was an active member of the Lordship community volunteering his time over the years to the Lordship Fathers Club, Indian Guides, and Little League. During his retirement he was a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society. Don was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church for his entire life serving on the Vestry and more recently as a volunteer at The Golden Rooster Shop. Don's larger than life personality, positive attitude, and his sense of humor served to get him through the tough struggle he faced. Don will be sadly missed by his wife, Muncie, children, Christopher, Daniel, Eileen, Emily Kardos and daughter, Amy and son-in-law Chris Panek and 5 grandchildren: Kaleigh, Alli, and Sarah Panek, Alex and Max Rodman, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Don was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Doris Wyler Kardos, sisters, Janet Hayes and Shirley Stengel and his brother, Bill Kardos. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 7

at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Main Street, Stratford. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alpha-1 Foundation
