Scalzi
August 16, 1924 – June 16, 2021
Dominick R. Scalzi, age 96, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Antonia Iacurci Scalzi, passed away on June 16, 2021, in Ludlowe Health Center, Fairfield. Dominick was born in Bridgeport on August 16, 1924, to the late Frederick and Carmela (Roberti) Scalzi and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a retired machine operator for over forty years at the Bullard Company. Dominick was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Men's Club at Holy Rosary Church, where he was a longtime BINGO caller. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed cheering for the UConn Men's and Woman's Basketball teams, and for the New York Yankees. Dominick came from a very traditional Italian heritage and continued the tradition of Sunday dinners with his family. In his later years Dominick enjoyed attending the Grasmere Adult Day Care Program in Bridgeport. Survivors include his devoted children, Linda Barker and her husband Tom of Stratford, and Frederick Scalzi and his wife Diana of Naugatuck, son-in-law, Randy Stanger of Pennsylvania, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, a sister, Louise Beaudry and her husband Leo of Shelton, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Dominick was pre-deceased by his daughter, Deborah Stanger and sister, Theresa Cortese. Friends may visit with his family on Monday, June 21 st from 8:30 -9:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, Lordship. Interment with full military honors will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
