Dennis Gardner Brown Sr. 64 years young, passed suddenly on December 31, 2008. He was living in New Haven CT at the time of his death. Born in Burlington, VT on February 13, 1944, he lived in Barre, VT as a small child. In grade school he moved with his parents and siblings to Stratford, CT. He was son of the late George G. Brown and Barbara H. Brown and was preceded by his sister Nancy Wilkinson and his brother Brian Brown. Dennis was a 1962 graduate of Stratford High School and a plumber by trade, spending his working life in an out of construction for the better part of forty plus years. He was known as "jack of all trades" and often completed repairs for free for those in need. Active in the community he was a Cub Scout leader and loved Pop Warner football. A true Vermonter at heart, he loved wolves and the great outdoors spending his free time on many hikes throughout New England and Canada including a cross country adventure road trip from Connecticut to Alaska and back. Above all he loved spending time with family around a good campfire. His loving family includes his two sisters Lisbeth Sperling and Debbie Benson, his children Diane Brown, Dennis Gardner Brown, Jr., Christopher James Brown, and Keith Emery Brown. "Grandpa" will be missed by his three grandsons, Benjamin G. Brown, Joshua J. Brown, and Noah C. Brown. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews most notably his cousin Russell Brown of Williamston VT, his nephew Greg Sperling of Stratford, CT, and his longtime companion, Josephine Fenner of East Haven, CT. Family and friends may call from 4:00-7:00PM on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT. A private family committal service will be held this spring in Vermont at the convenience of the family.
