David Martin Schiffer Sr. of Southbury, formerly of Stratford and Trumbull, the beloved husband of Evelyn May (Bilchak) Schiffer, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025. David was born on June 8, 1930, to the late Walter James and May Victoria (Beardsley) Schiffer.

Among David's many happy memories, he often reminisced about growing up in Stratford, where he made lifelong friends. David and fourteen friends formed The Jokers Club, a source of fun, laughter, and camaraderie for the rest of their lives. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the self-proprietor of the D.M. Schiffer Company in Stratford. David raised his family in Stratford and was proud that his mother's family were among the first settlers in 1639. He enjoyed a sporting life, including hunting, fishing, swimming, and golf. Among his many talents, David, like his father, loved to sing and did so any chance he had. His patriotic rendition of God Bless America was the hallmark of any family gathering.

After retiring, David and Evelyn moved to Pinewood Lake in Trumbull, where he continued to enjoy the outdoors, proudly swimming the length of the lake. The last decade of David's happy marriage was spent living in Southbury in Heritage Village, where his Condominium overlooked the golf course's 16th Green, which was a source of great joy to have such a comfortable perch to observe the game he loved so much.

In addition to Evelyn, his wife of 69 years, survivors include his children, Mary (Ernst Weber), David Jr (Daryl Duarte), Elizabeth Schiffer, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A graveside burial with full military honors will occur on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 11:30 am in St Johns Cemetery Stratford. The Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
