David Anthony Gierula, age 23, of Stratford, the beloved son of John Gierula and Maria Bernal, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital. David was born on August 9, 1994 in Bridgeport, CT.  He worked at Vazzy's and Testo's as well as Oronoque Village and Caribe Travel. He was a graduate from Stratford High School in Stratford, CT.  His smile and personality were contagious and was loved by everyone that knew him. His life was rich with experiences, traveling, good friends, a loving family and a compassion for others. David loved playing for the Stratford Redskins, loved food, MMA, music and camping. He was the best big brother and protector to his brothers as well as everyone he loved. He is survived by his loving parents, mother Maria Bernal and father John A. Gierula, paternal grandparents, John and Lucy Gierula, maternal grandparents, Guillermo and Consuelo Bernal, two brothers, Dante and Johnny Gierula, a sister, Marianna Filippakis, aunts and uncles, Monica Bernal and Yury Vargas, Javier and Grace Bernal, Guillermo E. Bernal, Kathy and Pat Beaudoin, and Cindy Gierula and numerous cousins, Tatiana and Amaya Bernal, Camila and Martina Vargas, Craig and John Godfrey, Crystal Correia, Matthew, Kayla, and Katie Ramalho and his dog Roxy.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 391 Ogden Street Bridgeport and serving as pallbearers will be John Gierula, John Gierula Sr., Dante Gierula, Johnny Gierula, Javier Bernal and Guillermo E. Bernal. Inurnment will take place on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 12:00PM in St John's Cemetery, 2610 Nichols Avenue Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-7 PM in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT 06614. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of David may be made to Maria Bernal, c/o the Funeral Home.
