David “Dave” Cole, 68, of Shelton, Connecticut, passed away on October 2, 2026. Born June 1, 1958, in Bridgeport to George and Jean. 

Dave graduated from Bunnell High School in 1976. Throughout his life he held many different jobs, ultimately retiring from Derby Public Schools. But he was happiest when a job involved stonework and building things with his hands. On March 21, 1981, he married his high school sweetheart, Christine, and together they built a life filled with laughter and countless games of Scrabble. Dave was a gentle soul who always made people feel seen and was known for giving the best hugs. He loved a book sale, playing in the dirt, looking at the trees, collecting coins, being a husband, and being a father. 

Dave is survived by his wife of 45 years Christine, his son, David (wife Alicia), his daughter, Lindsay (husband Drew), his brothers, Bob (wife Pat), George (wife Meg), and Steve (wife Rose), and sister, Priscilla (husband Bill). 

 Funeral services are private and have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home- Stratford.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made toward planting a tree as a living memorial, a meaningful way to give back to the earth in Dave’s honor. Donations can be sent via Venmo to his daughter, Lindsay, at @lindsayclaire28.
