Daniel (Danny) Gardecki, age 86, of Stratford, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Bridgeport Hospital after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Trudy (Borner) Gardecki for over 60 years.

Danny was born on May 17, 1939, in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late Stanley and Josephine (Gritsko) Gardecki. He was a life-long resident of Stratford except for a short residency in Florida. Danny graduated from Stratford High School, Class of 1957.  He was a member of the Connecticut National Guard, with which he took much pride.

He was formerly employed as an iron worker with the Iron Workers Local 424 New Haven.  After retiring, Danny worked part time for a local printing company interacting with clients as he delivered their anticipated blueprints, many times with a short delivery notice, but always with a smile on his face.

He loved boating with his family and friends on the Housatonic River, and you could also find him fishing off the docks in Stratford and participating in the Blue Fish competition off Long Island sound. Danny liked the simple life, enjoying time at home with his beloved late wife Trudy and their dogs and cats, as well as any other critters that happened to show up in their backyard.

He was a devoted husband, son, brother, and father, always available to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Danny is survived by his son, Daniel Gardecki, Jr. and partner Carol of Stratford, his devoted daughter, Joni Yale and her devoted partner Keith of Stratford, and his loving sister-in-law, Joan Duda and her husband Jim of Monroe, several nieces and nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Services and burial will be private, with a Celebration of Life to follow. Adzima Funeral Home in Stratford has been entrusted with arrangements.
