Cornelius P. Shea (“Connie”) of Stratford, CT beloved widower of Eleanor Bonazzo Shea was 95 years old and died on March 11, 2026, at home. He was born on February 27th, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Jeremiah and Ellen Hennessey Shea.
He was a Connecticut resident since the early 1940’s. Mr Shea was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the National Association of Atomic Veterans. He attended Bassick High School in Bridgeport and was a 1962 Graduate of Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Mr Shea retired in 1994 as a Supervisor from the United Illuminating Company where he worked for over 39 years and was a member of the UI Jewel Club. He was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church, a member of the Lordship Father’s Club and a member of the Gaelic-American Club.
Survivors include his two devoted sons, Patrick J Shea and his wife Rosemary of Surrey, England and Christopher Shea and his wife Therese of Stratford, CT; three grandchildren (Michael Connor, Gabrielle and Shannon); three great-grandchildren (Adianna, Skye and Nash) ; his brother Jeremiah and his wife Patricia of Stratford CT; special nieces and nephews Kathleen Dully and her husband Robert of Avon, CT, Michael P Shea of Norwalk, CT, and Kevin Shea and his wife Susan of Madison CT, and Jeremiah C Shea and his wife Kirsten of Milford, CT and great nieces and nephews (Sarah, Robert, Maggie, Ellie, Norah, Jeremiah, CJ (Christopher), Tyler and Eli).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. meeting directly at Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford. Inurnment with full military honors will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make a contribution in Connie’s memory, to the Wounded Warriors Charity.
The Adzima Funeral Home- Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
