IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christina
Grand
May 27, 1932 – September 4, 2022
The Lord called home another of his angels on Sunday, September 4, 2022. Christina (Chanova)
Grand, 90, passed away while asleep at home after a brief illness. She was born in Dubova, Czechoslovakia on May 27, 1932 to Andrew and Anizia (Cimbalova) Chan and was brought to America, along with her siblings, by her father after their mother died unexpectedly.
The family resided in Passaic, NJ, where Christina worked as an inspector at a fabric manufacturer. She moved to Stratford, CT, after a brief stay in Michigan with family, and worked at Schick in Milford until her first child. An avid dancer, she met her husband, Joseph Grand, at a dance at the White Eagle Hall. Together they graced many dance floors for years until he passed. They were married July 15, 1961 in St John the Baptist Church (Arctic St) and raised their family in Bridgeport for 25 years before moving to Trumbull in 1993. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and she was an exceptional cook and baker as well. She also enjoyed their trips to the casinos. A member of St John the Baptist Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church (Mill Hill Ave), she loved carrying on all of the traditions she grew up with and teaching them to her family.
In addition to her parents and husband Joe, she was predeceased by her siblings: Helen (John) Lotzer, Mary (John) Kekelik, Anastasia Chan, John (Pauline) Chan and Hana Chan, niece Emily Chan and nephew John Lotzer, Jr.
Left to remember her loving spirit are sons Joseph Grand, Jr and his children Ashley, Brooke and Joe III (Taylor), all of Shelton, and son Gary Grand of Trumbull, sister Suzie (Walter) Pitulej of Virginia, and several loving nieces and nephews and their families.
