IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chet
Chechoski
April 3, 1943 – November 7, 2021
Chester Chechoski, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on November 7, 2021.
"Chet" was the loving husband of Barbara Steiz Chechoski for 52 years. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on April 3, 1943, to the late Eugene and Stella Poplawski Chechoski. Chet was a proud veteran who served in the US Air Force from 1962 - 1966. He worked at Raybestos in Stratford and retired from the US Postal Service. Chet was a kind and generous soul who never said no to his wife, children, or grandchildren. In his younger years, Chet was very social, always wanting to be around people. He was instrumental in planning and looked forward to making lifetime memories at many New Year's Eve bashes and celebrating holidays and milestones with family and friends. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed many NASCAR races at Daytona and the Poconos sharing these special times with his loved ones. As he got older, his circle became smaller, but he still loved being around his dear friends. He took many trips to Saratoga Springs enjoying the horse races and casino. What he cherished the most was his family. In almost all conversations, he talked proudly about his children, but nothing compares to the brightest lights in his life - his 11 grandchildren. Each and every one of them had such a special place in his heart and everyone that knew Chet knew that. He will be sorely missed by his family especially his wife who he spoke his last words to saying, "I love you Grammy".
In addition to his wife, Chet is survived by his four children, Chet Jr (Marianne) Chechoski of Stratford, Tammy (Matt) Rich of Oxford, Jodi Keller of Oxford, and Wendy Chmiel of Oxford, his 11 grandchildren, Dale, Jared, Hannah, Tori, Lauren, Cali, Hunter, Chet, Lexi, Trevor, and Macey. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (MaryEllen) Chechoski of Waterbury, many nieces and nephews and his five grandpups, Tagalong, Sami, Buddy, Peanut, and Jazzy.
