Chester C. Poplawski, age 78, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at his home with his family after a brief illness. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to the late Joseph and Eva (Smith) Poplawski. Chet was employed at the Raybestos-Manhattan Corp., for 10 years along with various other professions allowing him to create many friendships along the way. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine and then in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a devoted father and grandfather, an avid gardener, with many green thumbs and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Survivors include: 4 daughters: Rose Poplawski, Elaine Poplawski, Patricia Kees and her husband Howard, Teresa Miklos; a son Joseph Poplawski and his wife Pamela; his grandchildren David, Michelle, Nicole, Danielle, Jimmy, Sarah, Meagan and Rachel. He was predeceased by his sisters Helen, Josephine, Lottie, Stella, Florence and his brother Leonard. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 8:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 9:00 am in St. James RC Church Main Street Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 – 8 pm.
