Obituary

Charles Duane Williams age 79 of Stratford, beloved husband of Helen Mc Gowan Williams entered into eternal life on Monday June 4, 2007 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Dunmore, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Charles and Freda Williams. After graduating from Warren Harding High School he served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during WW # II and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Medal. After faithfully serving his country he was employed at Remington Arms as a gunpowder mixer, Union Stewart and retired after thirty years of service. He was a member of the NRA and Trout Unlimited. Duane was an avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman. Summers were spent camping and fly-fishing with his friends and family. Fall and winter pheasant and deer hunting with his beloved dogs. All though he resided in Bridgeport most of his life, we all know his heart and soul were always in the Big Sky Country of Montana. Besides his beloved wife of 59 years survivors include three daughters Debbie and Ed Bickley of Stratford, Charlene and David Schurk of Greensboro, NC and Ellen and Michael Hussey of Oxford. Even though Duane had no sons of his own, he leaves behind a very special young man who he cherished and loved, who appreciated, loved and respected the great outdoors with David Kalanick of Rathdrum, Idaho, his beloved sister Audree Newcomb of Stratford, 6 grandchildren Dawn and Heather Bickley, Eric, Brian and Carrie Schurk and Sean Colin Hussey. He also leaves a great-granddaughter Anna Rose, along with many nieces and nephews. As per his request his ashes will be distributed where his heart lies at Yellowstone National Park. Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family at the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday June 7th. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Yellowstone Park Foundation, Bozeman, MT yellowstn@YPF.org or to the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff of Richardson 9 at Bridgeport Hospital, the hospitalists Dr. Mathur and Dr. Hoq for the wonderful, compassionate and expert care he received. We would also like to thank Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut Hospice Counselor Lisa Krauss and Hospice RN Olga Streeter. They are truly angels and we thank you both
