Charles A. Sala age 92 of Milford and formally a long time resident of Stratford passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010. Charles was born in Old Forge, PA on December 28, 1917. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Anna of 67 years. Charles served in the navy during WWII. He saw combat in the Pacific on the destroyer USS Conner. He retired after 38 years from Remington Arms. He was an active member of the Remington Arms Retirees Club. Charles was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Uconn Basketball teams. He was predeceased by a sister Sophie Belak of Old Forge, PA and a brother Walter Sala of New York City. He is survived by his loving family which includes his son Charles J. Sala and his wife Ada of Monroe, another son Robert D. Sala and his wife Paula of Milford, and a daughter Carol A. McCarthy and her husband Michael of Milford in whose home Charles resided for the past two years. He has five grandchildren Chuck Sala and his wife Catherine, Julie Smith and her husband James, Robert Sala and his wife Cindy, Patricia Aul and her husband Andy and Lauren McCarthy. He also has four great-grandchildren Katelin and Kevin Sala and Charliann and Kyle Smith. He is also survived by three nephews and a niece. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 13th at 9:45 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-6 p.m.
