Carl William Honrath, loving husband of the late Eleanor Stormfelt Honrath, died Friday, March 22 at Masonicare Healthcare Center in Wallingford. Carl was born April 27, 1929 in Bridgeport to Carl W. Honrath, Sr. and Hildegarde Striebe Honrath. He is survived by his loving daughter, Gail Honrath Loucks, her husband Todd, and was the proud grandfather of Christian Carl Loucks, all of Wallingford, CT formerly of Stratford, also survived by his sister, Lois M. Honrath (Kollar) Erdos and husband Joseph of Stratford. Carl was predeceased by his brother Robert A. Honrath Sr., sister-in-law Sarah Honrath, brother-in-law Andrew J. Kollar, nephew Andrew C. Kollar and niece Leanne Kollar. Carl was a graduate of Stratford High School class of 1947. He worked as a draftsman apprentice for GE for six years while attending Bridgeport Engineering Institute, after graduating from high school. It was a t GE that he met the love of his life, Eleanor. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in 1992 after 38 years as a Senior Avionic Design Engineer and Supervisor, Engineering Installation Design. He was a Mason for 55 years as a member of the America-St. John's Lodge #8, in Stratford. Carl was in the Naval Reserve for 8 years. Carl loved volunteering at the Helicopter Museum in Stratford for many years. He could answer any question about the Civil War, WW I and WW II. He was a New York Yankee fan and loved to play golf with his friends until his health prevented him from doing so. Carl was a Stratford resident for over 50 years. Carl was a kind and gentle man and was loved by his nieces and nephews: Robert A. Honrath and wife Diane of Monroe, Cathy Ann Honrath Vernon and husband Gary of Nevada, Laura Kollar Bashar and husband Pete of Stratford, Ann Kollar Myszka and husband Mark of Plainville, CT, and Jacqueline Kollar Troxell and husband John of Stratford. Also survived by his grand nephews and grand nieces: Danielle, Lauren, Britanny and Robert Honrath III, Christie Vernon Cyr and Scott Vernon, Nicole, Alyssa, Kristina and Peter Bashar, Andrew, Francis Carl and Maggie Myszka, Stephen Duranko and Toni Erdos and one great-grandnephew Jordan Harrison. A special thank you to the Hospice in Masonicare for their loving care and support. Friends may greet Carl's family on Monday, March 25th from 4-7 p.m. In the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, with a Prayer Service at 6: 30 p.m. officiated by Rev. Ed Rawls. A Masonic Service will performed at 6:15 p.m. Interment will be private.
