C . Norman Murray of Shelton, born July 18, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA died on May 14, 2011 at Griffin Hospital. Son of Archie Vernon and Dorothy (Baker) Murray, Norm attended Valley Forge Military Academy, Mercersburg Academy and Allegheny College(Sigma Alpha Epsilon and company commander, Air Force R.O.T.C) Norm served in the US Air Force and was assigned to the North American Air Defense Command (part of SAC). A member of a Fighter Interceptor Squadron, they flew F-89 jets. He served as the base Intelligence Officer and retired a Captain. He graduated from the Dickinson School of Law. He specialized in human resources and OSHA compliance for Corning Glass, Corning, NY and Great Northern Paper, Stamford, CT. In retirement, he was an associate with William Raveis Real Estate. He was a Mason, a member of Christ Church Junior Vestry, served on the boards of Corning Hospital, Corning Summer Theater and Boy Scouts of America. Norm was also active in scouting as a troop leader, a member of the Order of the Arrow and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Enjoying all sports, he belonged to the golfing's Hole in One club and liked to watch college lacrosse and UConn women's basketball. Norm is survived by his wife of 54 years, Laurie (MacArthur) Murray, sons Clifford Murray (Donna) of Abington, MA and Bruce Murray (Jocelyn) of Stratford, CT, daughter Elizabeth (Murray) Mascaro (Stephen) of Baltimore, MD and grandchildren Alicia, Cliff, Jeff, Brian and Kara. Friends may greet his family on Wednesday May 18th from 4-7pm in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT.
