Bogdan (Don) Romuald Czaplinski, age 52 on Wednesday, died early Saturday morning, February 14, 2009. Don was a loving son, father and grandfather, born February 18, 1957 in Wesolowo, Poland to Sabina and Romuald Czaplinski; the youngest of three children. His family immigrated to this country in 1963 and he lived in Stratford most of his life. He attended Bunnell High School. He was an entrepreneur, craftsman and builder who had a reputation for bragging about his four children and three grandchildren to all his friends and acquaintances. Don was an avid reader and history buff who loved boating and being out on Long Island Sound and the ocean. Besides his parents and older brother Leszek and wife Alina, sister Teresa (Czaplinski) Cylwik and husband Jozef. He is also survived by his former wife Mary Sheehan, and four children Laura (Czaplinski) Josephson and husband Robert, Krystyna (Czaplinski) Alexander and husband Christian, son Matthew and youngest daughter Kathryn Czaplinski. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Kailey, Colin and Kamryn Alexander. Don is also survived by many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, including his close friend and nephew Dan Cylwik. He will be dearly missed by his family and close network of friends. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 10:3 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 11:30 am in St. Mark Roman Catholic Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Monroe. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm.
