Bertha S. Gosart, 92, of Shelton passed away Monday July 27, 2009 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport to the late George and Bertha Steade, she was a lifelong area resident. A retiree of Peoples Bank, Berdie was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church of Stratford for over 55 years. She gave endless hours volunteering her time and love at many local hospitals, the Red Cross, and Easter Seals. Berdie was predeceased by her husband Edward Donald Gosart and son Donnie and is survived by three sons: Philip E. Gosart and wife Dorothy of Concord, NC; David G. Gosart and wife Kathleen of Huntington; and James M. Gosart and wife Carol of Shanghai, China; seven grandchildren: Tammy Eisenmann and husband Mark; Susan Szabo and husband James; Edward Gosart and wife Charlene; Todd Gosart and wife Renee; Melissa Convertito and husband Scott; Kara Golino and husband Philip; and Kristen Campbell and husband John; fourteen great grandchildren: Dan and Kyle Eisenmann; Allison and Jimmy Szabo; Ryan Gosart; Hailee, Cody, and Tyler Gosart; Kate, Beth, and Alex Convertito; and Emily Campbell; a sister Doris Hewitt of Sarasota, Florida and many cherished nieces and nephews. The family sincerely thanks the doctors and nurses at Bridgeport Surgical ICU, especially Dr. Sean Duerr and nurses Lilly, Pat, Michele and Maria. Funeral services will be held on Friday July 31, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. directly at Grace Lutheran Church, Chapel Street Stratford.
