Barbara M. Demsky 81, a lifelong Stratford resident, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Spring Village of Stratford. Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Stephen J. and Mary (Mae) (Baluha) Demsky and loving sister of the late Patricia Demsky Divinere.

Barbara was a 1960 graduate of St. John’s Commercial in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and attended the American Institute of Banking. She retired as an officer from Mechanics and Farmers Bank, where she was employed for more than 28 years.

In retirement, Barbara volunteered her time in the office of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stratford. An avid reader, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheted numerous blankets for Project Linus. A devoted parishioner of Holy Name since the age of four, Barbara joined the choir as a child and nurtured a lifelong love of music. Gifted with a beautiful soprano voice, she sang in the choirs of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Our Lady of Grace Church, and the Diocese of Bridgeport at St. Augustine Cathedral.

Barbara is survived by many loving relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

A mass of Christian burial will take place at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Avenue

Stratford, on Thursday January 8th at 10:00. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery 1056 Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara requested contributions in her name be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church www.hnojchurch.org or St. Jude’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org
