Obituary

Arthur Funk, 88, went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2022, with his loving, wife, Irene by his side. Artie was born on August 6, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY. He met the love of his life, Irene Maguffin, in 1958 and they married on November 28, 1959. He often said that he prayed that God would send him a good wife but that God sent him the best wife. He spent his career as an NC programmer at Republic Aviation, Sikorsky and Avco, moving his family to Stratford, Connecticut from Long Island in 1975. He retired to Delaware in 1991 and returned to Stratford in 2010 to be closer to family.

Artie was a man of true faith, always taking comfort in praying the rosary daily. He spent countless hours making rosaries for our troops overseas. Artie enjoyed working with wood, lovingly creating playhouses, toys, cabinets and furniture for his kids and grandkids. He loved spending time with family, whether at family reunions, holiday gatherings, cookouts in the backyard at his kids' houses, trips to the Catskill Game Farm or fishing with his kids. While living in Delaware, he looked forward to visits from family, which always meant tractor rides, playing with Playdoh and gardening with Grandpa. Artie was a competitive shooter and avid reader.

In addition to his wife, Irene, Artie is survived by his 6 children, Mary (Jeff) Malcolm, Joe (Marlene) Funk, Terri (Paul) Levesque, Chris Funk, Cathy (Dan) Plavcan, and Tricia Funk, 13 grandchildren, David, Tim (Jordan), Chris (Sonia), Jessica (Camilo), Emily (Mike), Renee, Kevin, Ryan, Connor (Nicole), Alyssa, Olivia, Chloe and Kyleigh and 5 great-grandchildren, who were the lights of his life, Skye, Madelyn, Alex, Landon and Logan. Artie is also survived by his brother Rev. Jeffrey Funk and sisters-in-law, Sandy Funk and Jeannette Funk.  He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Elizabeth (Harth) Funk and his brothers, Ray and Jerry Funk.

Friends and family may visit on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4-7pm at Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Our Lady of Peace, 651 Stratford Rd, Stratford, CT at 10:30am followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 1300 Stratford Rd, Stratford, CT.
