Obituary

Anthony J. Gabriele, 93, of Stratford, CT, passed away peacefully June 11, 2023, after a brief illness at Bridgeport Hospital, with his loving daughters by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 220 Shelton Road, Trumbull, CT.  The family welcomes friends to attend the mass and the celebration of his long-fulfilled life.

Anthony was born on December 4, 1929, in Bridgeport, CT, to Albert Frank and Frances (Frasca) Gabriele.  Anthony proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps from 1948 to 1951 earning him an Honorable Discharge.  He was most proud of this time; it was the foundation of how he lived his life.   After leaving the military, he married Marian Sloan Gabriele, and relocated his family to Trumbull, CT, where they raised their four children.

Anthony is lovingly survived by his three daughters, Victoria Priddle of Avon, CT, Susan and Brian (son-in-law) Casey of Stratford, CT, and Leslie MacLeay of New Milford, CT.  He was predeceased by his son Anthony (TJ) Gabriele, Jr., his late brothers Frank Gabriele and Jerry Gabriele.

Anthony, best known as "Gramps" is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Oligino (Eric), Heather Sabad (Michael), Michael Priddle (Madeline), Brian Casey Jr. (Courtney), Landon Gabriele, Paige MacLeay and Ava Gabriele, as well as his great-grandchildren, Mia Oligino, Emma Oligino, Carson Priddle, Julia Priddle, Tori Sabad and Taylor Sabad who he so dearly loved.

In addition, he is survived by his nephews Dennis Gabriel, Ricky Gabriel, Vincent Gabriel and Mark Gabriel.

Anthony was a retired employee of Raybestos Manhattan, Stratford, CT, with over 35 years of service.  During this time, he played on many of the company's industrial sport leagues such as softball, golf and duckpin bowling.   He was an avid sports fan and a passionate NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.

Anthony will be most remembered for his dedication and strong family values.   He loved spending time with his family.  It was always "family first".   He was the most loving and selfless Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.   He was a natural storyteller with a vivid memory that allowed him to share with us his many life experiences. His unconditional love and the memories created will forever be in our hearts.
