Annie Babey, age 91, of Stratford, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in Gardner Heights HCC, Shelton. Annie was born in Fairfield to the late Michael and Katarina Babey and has been a long time area resident. She retired from General Electric after forty-seven years of service. Annie was a life long member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport, where she was a former church officer and member of the Seniors Club. She loved crossword puzzles and traveling, and enjoyed her trips to Europe and Russia. Survivors include her brother, Michael D. Babey and his wife Sue of Trumbull, 3 nephews, George Babey, Greg Babey and his wife Rose and Michael Babey, 3 nieces, Gale Haskell, Linda Maestri and Sharon Esares and her husband Gene, great-nieces and nephews, Gwen and Heidi Haskell, Calandra and Alexander Babey, Kristen and Daniel Dwyer, and Nicholas and Stephen Esares. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother, George Babey and his wife Mary, and sisters, Mary Hlavaty and her husband Stephen, and Katherine Dirgo. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 20th at 10:30am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11 am in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in memory of Annie to St. John's Church.
