Anne Kasper Popp, age 98, of Easton, beloved wife of the late George Popp, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 in her home. Anne, a homemaker and a former cafeteria manager for Staples High School, was born in Easton to the late John and Mary (Matlyak) Kasper and has been a life long Easton resident. In October of 1934, sixteen year old Anne Kasper was one of five girls selected out of over 200 000 contestants nationwide by the Monogram-Agfa-Ansco Chance for Hollywood contest. Days after her 17th birthday she left for Hollywood to appear in the movie "Women Must Dress" which opened in early 1935. Having "Reel-ized" her dream of being in moving pictures, she returned to Connecticut and married George Popp of Bridgeport on October 22, 1938. "Movies she says are the bunk. But marriage-Ah, that's Real!" Survivors include her devoted children, Robert J. Popp of Easton, Mary E. Procacci and her husband Pat of New Jersey, Althea Falco and her husband Paul of Easton, and George R. Popp and his wife Beverly of New York, 8 cherished grandchildren, Matthew Popp, Jacqueline Roe (Daniel), Christine Santosuosso (Richard), Adrienne Eigenrauch (Stephen), Jessica DeManche (Kyle), Sarah Almeida (Lee), Meghan and Maria Popp, 12 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Emma, Danielle, Julia, Brian, Jack, Will, Stephen, Nicholas, Julia, Gabriella, and Ryan, and several nieces and nephews. The Popp family would like to thank Anne's caregiver Joan, for her kind and loving care. In addition to her parents, and husband, Anne was pre-deceased by her brothers, Al and John Kasper, and sisters, Mary Pistey, and Helen Popp. A Requiem Funeral Service will take place on Friday, November 6th at 10 a.m. meeting directly at the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist 364 Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Panachida at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Anne's memory to St. John's Church.
