Anna Sutyak-Kovalsky, age 96, beloved wife of the late Michael Kovalsky, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at St. Joseph's Center in Trumbull, Connecticut. Anna was born, February 12, 1920, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Sutyak. Anna attended Stratford High School in Stratford, Connecticut. In 1942 Anna married Michael Kovalsky and resided in Bridgeport, Connecticut. After starting a family in Bridgeport, they became life-long residents of Trumbull, Connecticut. While busy raising seven children, Anna was also a full-time employee of Bridgeport Metal Goods from which she retired. Anna enjoyed the simple life, traveling the east coast, particularly Bar Harbor, Maine, and loved going to the movies. She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Tomer and husband Charles, of Oxford, Connecticut; son, Robert Kovalsky of Wilmington, Vermont; son, Richard Kovalsky and wife, Maggie, of Fairbanks, Alaska; son, Paul Kovalsky and wife, Donna, of Fairfax, Virginia; daughter, Marilyn Van Volkenburgh and husband, James, of Stratford, Connecticut; son, Michael Kovalsky of Breckenridge, Colorado, and daughter, Susan Luchsinger of Wilmington, Vermont. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Sutyak, and sister-in-law, Helen Sutyak, of Stratford, Connecticut; grandchildren, Christine Wright and husband, Joseph; Edward Tomer and wife, Pamela; Ann Meloro and husband, J. R.; Bryan Kovalsky and wife, Rita; Christopher Kovalsky; Catherine Brown, and husband, Jared; Andre Kovalsky and wife, Michelle; Charley Maasak-taalak Kovalsky and his wife, Bridget, as well as seventeen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Anna is preceded in death by her brothers, Andrew Sutyak, Joseph Sutyak, Edward Sutyak and his wife, Joan; Richard Sutyak, and son-in-law Dr. Craig J. Luchsinger. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and at 11 a.m. in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in memory of Anna to St. John's Church.
