On, Monday, January 5, 2015, Andrew (Andy) Dolyak 90, husband of the late Pauline (Walkowski) Dolyak passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Vitas in Waterbury. Andy was born on February 10, 1924, in Bridgeport. He graduated from the Connecticut Trade School as a Tool Machinist and worked at Remington Arms. He served in WWII in the South Pacific on the USS Mobile Light Cruiser and was honorably discharged as an USS Petty Officer 3rd Class. On his return, he worked at Singer in Bridgeport. He married the love of his life on November 15, 1947, and moved to Lordship where they raised four children. Andy was a member and Past President of the Lordship Fathers Club. He enjoyed participating in the yearly Variety Shows and volunteered in all the activities that were held throughout the year. Andy also was very involved in the Boy Scouts as a pack and troop leader. He was an avid golfer and was known as one of the "fearless foursome". Andy was a member of the Stratford VFW 9460 and the Disabled Veterans. He owned his own sheet rock and taping business in Stratford and later worked for the International Union of Painters and Tapers until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, Andy and Pauline moved to Ft. Lauderdale Florida where he enjoyed golfing and cruising the Caribbean numerous times with his wife and close friends highlighted by their 50th wedding Anniversary cruise. He was involved in the Men's club, and the "Citizen's Observer Patrol" for the Broward Sheriff's office. After moving back to Connecticut 2005, he volunteered in the kitchen at the Baldwin Center. Andy is survived by his four children, Deborah (Louis) Loban of Stratford, Craig (Laura) Dolyak of Cheshire, Dawn (Paul) Tarbetsky of Higganum and Kim (Robert) Sullivan of Naugatuck, one sister, Ann Kaplan of Stratford as well eight grandchildren and nine great-grand children who he adored immensely. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 9th at 9 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Peace Church, Lordship for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will be in the State Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
