Alma Pjura Barvenik age 92 of Stratford, Connecticut the widow of Frank X. Barvenik passed away on Sunday January 2, 2011 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Barvenik, a homemaker was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Joseph and Anna (Kovac) Pjura and has been a life long area resident, spending her summers in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard for over forty years. She was a member of St. James Parish and their Seniors, and was a Foster Mother to 85 children. Survivors include her beloved children Frank Barvenik and his wife Trina of Weston, and Lois Burritt and her husband Arthur of Stratford, 5 cherished grandchildren Arthur Burritt and his wife Peg, Susan Santillo and her husband Mark, Melissa Pinto and her husband Chris, Amelie Loyot and her husband Rob, and Daniel Barvenik and his wife Deidre, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great granddaughters, 2 sisters Dorothy Fico and her husband Louis of Newtown and Evelyn Benjamin of Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday January 7th at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church Main Street Stratford. Interment will be in Union Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
